How to Read Books Offline

Want to read the books offline? Don’t want to have to load each book in the browser? We HIGHLY RECOMMEND moving your books offline, as it will offer you an even better reading experience.

The process is a bit different, depending on your device. In this tutorial, we will show you how to accomplish this for:

  • iPad/iPhone/iPod
  • Android Device (tablet, smartphone)
  • Computer

iPad/iPhone/iPad

IMPORTANT: Please follow these instructions while on your computer (MAC or PC). You will need to use your computer in order to move files to your Apple mobile device.

Step 1: Install the App

Before transferring, please install our App FlipExplorer into your iPad/iPhone/iPod. You can get it from App Store.

Step 2: Download the Books

Before you can move the books onto your device, you will need to download the actual book files. NOTE: If you purchased the physical “Backup CD”, then downloading is not necessary, you will simply pop your CD into your computer and move on to the next steps.

You can move over an entire Level of books at one time. Let’s say we want to move all Level 1 books first. After logging into your account, on the home dashboard, you will see a graphic that says “Download all Level 1 Books for Offline Reading.” Click this, and download all books.

Step 3: Drag and Drop book .zip files into iTunes

Connect your iPad/iPhone to your computer, the iTunes will start up automatically.

  1. Please click on the “My iPad” item on the left hand side of screen (or possibly the top depending on your version).
  2. Click “Apps” button on top.
  3. Drag the scroll bar to scroll down to the “File Sharing” section, you would find “FlipExplorer” item.
  4. Click on “FlipExplorer” item to select it.iPad_step3_1
  5. Open the downloaded folder of books. Open this, you will now see individual book .zip files. OR if you have the Backup CD, simply pop that in and drag and drop all .zip files.iPad_Step3_2
  6. Drag & drop all of the book .zip files to the “FlipExplorer Documents” area. The .zip files will be transfer to your iPad/iPhone immediately.

Step 4: Import into FileExplorer

Once the transfering is complete, you can open your iPad/iPhone and tap “FlipExplorer” icon to run FlipExplorer on iPad/iPhone. You would see the following interface:iPad_step4_1

Please tap “Import” button to import it into FlipExplorer. You will see the following interface after you tap “Import”.iPad_Step4_2

After import is complete, a thumbnail of the publication would be created and placed in the Library view like below.iPad_step4_3

Android Device (tablet/smartphone)

Step 1: Install the App

Step 2: Download the Books

Step 3: Run FlipExplorer on Android

Run FlipExplorer on Android device. A folder named “offlinebooks” will be created under the SD card of Storage Drive.

Step 4: Copy the .zip files to the SD card of Android

  1. Connect your Android device to your computer using its USB cable. On the computer, if you are asked about what to do, select “Open folder to view files”. If the SD card folder does not appear, go to My Computer and find it under Removable Storage Drive. On a Mac, the drive will appear on your desktop.
  2. Open the downloaded folder of books. Open this, you will now see individual book .zip files. OR if you have the Backup CD, simply pop that in and drag and drop all .zip files.
  3. Drag-and-drop all of the .zip files to “offlinebookszips” folder.android_step4

Step 5: Import into FlipExplorer

On your Android device, please tap “Refresh” button from the library interface of FlipExplorer.android_5a

After import is complete, a thumbnail of the publication would be created and placed in the Library view like below.android_5c

Just tap the thumbnail to start viewing your publication offline.

 

Computer

Step 1: Download the Books

 

You can move over an entire Level of books at one time. Let’s say we want to move all Level 1 books first. After logging into your account, on the home dashboard, you will see a graphic that says “Download all Level 1 Books for Offline Reading.” Click this, and download all books.

Step 2: Open the Folder & Read

After downloading, unzip the folder. Next, choose whichever book you would like to read. Double-click on that book’s folder. Once inside the folder, you will see a file called “index”. Double-click this file to read the book. The book will open in a web-browser to read, but you will not be required to be on the internet to do so.
